On June 21, just a few weeks after Kinexon had been announced as winner of the Weconomy Award 2014, the official award ceremony took place. The ceremony was held in the futuristic environment of the Institute of Space Propulsion of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) at Lampoldshausen. The award was handed over by Franz Fehrenbach, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bosch.
After the award ceremony Kinexon had the unique opportunity to introduce its technology to top-managers of leading corporates such as Dr. Dieter Zetsche (CEO Daimler AG), Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht (Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BASF SE), Margret Suckale (Member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE), Prof. Dr. Harald Unkelbach (CEO of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG and Member of the Managing Board of the Charitable Würth Trust), Prof. Dr. Heinz-Walter Große (CEO B. Braun Melsungen AG), and Dr. Jochen Keysberg (Member of the Board of Executive Directors of Bilfinger SE).
Kinexon was awarded for its innovative real time location and motion sensing solution Kinexon ONE. Besides location and motion it also detects the condition and status of people, objects and workflows. The core of the system is the Kinexon Sensor – a small and lightweight device that tracks the 3D position and orientation of people and objects with centimeter accuracy. The sensor operates seamlessly, i.e. both in indoor and outdoor environments. A web-based smart analytics application transforms the data and provides the user with valuable and unprecedented insights. Data can be accessed from any internet enabled device such as PC, notebook, smartphone or tablet PC (e.g., iPad). Kinexon ONE enables customers to use smart location and motion data to improve processes and products in terms of quality, costs and time. The solution is used by renowned companies in a number of sectors such as industry, healthcare, logistics, retail, sports, robotics and unmanned aviation.
The WECONOMY initiative aims at fostering partnerships between start-ups and established market players. For start-ups partnerships to established corporates are of interest for several reasons: Gaining know-how from industry experts, cooperate in R&D projects, acquire pilot customers, build supplier relationships, and establish market credibility. Handelsblatt, Wissensfabrik and UnternehmerTUM are eager to enable such partnerships by fostering valuable industry/start-up collaborations. The winning start-ups receive a one-year mentoring scholarship including a networking weekend with leading executives of German corporates, specific workshop and events.
