KINEXON is excited to announce the signing of Matt Aldred, Assistant Head Coach and Director of Basketball Performance, as a member of the KINEXON Ambassador Program.
Aldred, a member of Furman Athletics, has been an integral asset for the Dins’ men’s basketball program, overseeing strength & conditioning. The Eastbourne, England native has spent the last six seasons with the Dins, which was highlighted by the recent 2022 – 23 season that included a berth in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The team was led by standout players Jalen Slawson and Mike Bothwell. Slawson was honored with the SoCon Player of the Year and SoCon Male Athlete of the Year in 2023 before being selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.
Over the past three seasons, Aldred has used KINEXON’s PERFORM IMU performance tracking technology to aid in developing his athletes. During the 2022 – 23 season, the program reached unprecedented success with a nail-biting 87 – 86 victory over the #4 Seed University of Virginia in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
“Matt has been instrumental in the development of KINEXON’s basketball analytics solutions. He has worked with our sports scientists and product developers to help our company develop solutions dedicated to improving athlete performance and gain insights into what coaches truly need to benefit their programs. I’m excited for him to continue to work closely with KINEXON and build upon the momentum we have created together in supporting basketball.”
Aldred has expressed his excitement to continue to work closely with KINEXON: “KINEXON plays a huge role in providing our players and staff with key performance tracking metrics that allow us to effectively prepare our guys for the season and ensure the best preparation and recovery during the season. As a Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coach, I see immense value in sports science and data analytics; I strive to be a hybrid between Strength Coach and Sport Scientist, as I believe this is where our industry is heading. I’m excited to continue our great relationship with Kinexon and to push the industry standard higher with performance tracking and analytics.”
As an official KINEXON Ambassador, he will support basketball analytics research and serve as a resource for new technology innovations supporting coaches and player development. He has been instrumental in growing KINEXON’s footprint in basketball and continues to share insights to further the development of data analytics tools to support coaches.
“We enjoy working with Matt and look forward to continuing to build solutions for basketball coaches and their athletes. Our work is predicated on the feedback coaches provide us to reach beyond what is possible from a data analytics standpoint.
