From January 30th to 31st 2018, SPOBIS took place in Düsseldorf, Germany. Top decision makers discussed the future of sports business – ranging from analysis and usage of data for fan engagement in the German Football Bundesliga, to current and future relevance of sport sponsoring and the usage of new technologies.
Maximilian Schmidt (Co-founder and Managing Director KINEXON Sports & Media GmbH) explained in his presentation on stage how both sensors mounted on players as well as chips located within the ball will effectively revolutionize sports tracking. KINEXON already delivers real-time data in different sports such as football, basketball, ice hockey and beach volleyball. The integration of a chip inside the ball creates further possibilities to analyse tactical situations in games.
The collected performance data not only helps to make the performance and efforts of athletes more tangible (and prevent injuries), but also to further analyse and illustrate the game for fans – for example by showing a pressing index or shooting speeds. All this data and the visualization can be shown at the venue on screens and apps for the audience, as well as being broadcasted live on TV feeds for all viewers at home.
For sponsors, this creates various opportunities to position themselves with cutting edge innovations.
The precise, innovative and smart KINEXON system consists of two major components. A hardware and sensor network provides the basis for localization and motion sensing with centimeter-accuracy through sensors and anchors. The intelligent software solution analyses and visualizes the collected data in real time, thus creating an unrivaled combined solution in the market. It enables an all-encompassing athlete monitoring, injury prevention and tactical game analysis. For media and broadcasters, the collected data creates additional values for fans and audiences and raises engagement rates.
