From April 24th to 28th we presented our award winning real-time location and motion sensing solution at Hannover Messe. Along with selected companies like Nokia, Capgemini and Atos we have been part of the Bitkom Innovation Area, the ultimate Industry 4.0 & Innovation Forum.
This year’s trade fair attracted record-breaking 225.000 visitors (217.000 in the reference year 2015). “That has not happened before in the 70-year history of the Hannover Messe,” said Dr. Jochen Köckler, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Messe AG. “This impressive figure shows that the international decision-makers have recognized that they will only receive a comprehensive view of the development in the area of Industry 4.0 at Hannover Messe.”
Under the motto “Integrated Industry – Creating Value” the focus of this year’s trade fair was on the benefits of Industry 4.0. The idea of Industry 4.0 resembles that of the Internet of Things, as both approaches focus on the real-time interconnection of smart objects, humans and processes. To fulfill this vision, you have to know where your assets, tools, products and vehicles are located and in which status they are at any time. This is where Kinexon comes into the game, as it addresses these needs with a state-of-the art solution. Kinexon delivers a sensor network, which is able to track the position and the status of objects, vehicles and humans.
The heart of our solution is the small and lightweight sensor, which is not only capable of detecting the position but also the motion and status of people and objects. While in the past few years, single sensors for networking of the machines and assets were the focus, the platform solutions were the main theme this year. Concretely, it was about the networking of the entire production including data collection and evaluation. Our software platform “Kinexon RioT” integrates, processes and visualizes all sort of position data in real-time – also data from 3rd party systems. Visitors had the opportunity to interact live with our centimeter accurate localization system and examine our software platform at our booth.
In addition to our stand, we were active with numerous contributions during the fair. Our Managing Director Nikolai von Loeper participated for instance at the Bitkom Innovation Forum panel discussion along with high-caliber representatives of Capgemini and Nokia, debating what established corporates can learn from emerging tech companies. The discussion concluded that established businesses need to cooperate with emerging enterprises more than ever, as they deliver a higher degree of innovation and agility, which often lacks in established companies.
We were also honored by the invitation of Media Manufaktur to the automotiveIT Forum Produktion & Logistik sponsored by Cisco. More than 200 IT- and automotive-experts, Dr. Christian Patron – Head of Innovation and Digitization in Production Systems of the BMW Group – among others, discussed trends and technologies for the digital factories of tomorrow at the Forum. In his speech, our MD Nikolai talked about how real-time location and motion analytics will lead to a new level of process transparency & automation in the digital factory of tomorrow. Kinexon is at the forefront to shape this trend with its scalable sensor network & real-time industrial IoT platform. The automotiveIT Forum honored this solution with an award. In addition to a talk by Nikolai, there was also a Kinexon live demonstration in the demo area.
Visitors seized the multiple opportunities to experience how real-time localization and data communication can lead production & logistics processes to a new level at multiple booths and talks. The keen interest of the visitors in the Kinexon booth confirms: the future of the factory is digital and networked. Kinexon contributes to the digital factory of tomorrow with smart and precise data & analytics about position, motion and status of objects and people.
