New York Calling: KINEXON joins the German Accelerator
Dresden, 15 October 2015 — The sports analytics company KINEXON Sports & Media won a pitch in Dresden for the German Accelerator in New York. Next april, the team will present its state-of-the-art radio technology to US sports clubs, university teams and media companies.

“These streets will make you brand new, this lights will inspire you” – Kinexon goes New York! The city of New York has been the topic of many famous songs. May it be Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez or Frank Sinatra – and soon, the most famous metropolitan city is also going to be a main topic for the sports analytics startup Kinexon. Yesterday, the Munich-based venture won a pitching competition in Dresden. The price: A ticket to New York with the German Accelerator. Three months full of high-class mentoring with industry experts and inspiring entrepreneurs. “The US is one the most important sports markets in the world”, underlined Kinexon founder Oliver Trinchera in his pitch. He convinced the jury around experts such as Prof. Dietmar Harhoff, one of the leading entrepreneurship scientists in Germany and Andy Goldstein, a successful US founder – who actually came to Germany to successfully start several software companies. The evaluation of the jury: “Kinexon has a strong team that pushes a fascinating product in a fast-growing market.”
Kinexon Sports develops an ultra-precise sensor technology to track athletes with centimeter-accuracy – and hereby aims at enabling the next generation of sports content generation. “Sports analytics is on the rise”, underlined Kinexon Sports CEO Maximilian Schmidt. Indeed: Almost every team in NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA uses wearable technology to measure training load or tactical performance. “With Kinexon, sports analytics become more accurate and therewith more reliable and meaningful”, emphasizes Schmidt. Together with the Technical University Munich and the European Space Agency, Kinexon developed a cutting-edge technology. By joining the German Accelerator, the Sports Tech startup wants to make the next step – entering the biggest sports market in the world. To paraphrase it in the words of Frank Sinatra: We start spreading the news – even if we not leave today. But soon, Kinexon is going to be part of it.
