COVID-19: Joining Forces against Corona
In times of crisis such as these, one thing above all is important: the solidarity between people — and in this context also between companies. Because only together we will successfully master the challenges. The Venture Client company 27pilots also recognized this and launched an initiative. We at KINEXON are part of it and help to protect employees and maintain production processes!
From the idea to the website launch: In less than 24 hours 27pilots launched the platform startupsagainstcorona.com. Here start-ups can submit solutions to acute industrial challenges that companies are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is no surprise that 27pilots is behind this initiative — since 2015 it has been in their DNA to organize cooperation between corporations such as the BMW Group or BSH Hausgeräte GmbH and start-ups.
“We are overwhelmed by the positive response to this initiative — both from the start-ups and the corporates. We are currently evaluating more than 300 solutions from start-ups from all over the world for problems of all kinds. The use cases are broad — from prevention to supply chain management and remote work.”
We at KINEXON feel all the more honored to have been featured as the “Start-up of the day” within this initiative. The solution we submitted for this:
Real-time localization in the name of worker protection. With the help of our small UWB-based sensors and the corresponding anchors we record the movements of the shop floor employees. The KINEXON RTLS captures the data while it is simultaneously made available in the KINEXON Real-Time-IoT platform (RIoT) for analysis and processing.
This enables companies to check if social distancing has been adhered (e.g. at a shift change). They can therefore protect their employees and keep production running at the same time — a prime example is our client ASM, who delivered a first realized practice case.
Apart from this, real-time localization plays a key role in digitization in the industrial environment: it is one of the key technologies for implementing a Smart Factory or Smart Supply Chain. The use cases are manifold — from reducing search times to avoiding process errors and unnecessary scanning.
Here’s how it works: How everyone benefits from the startupsagainstcorona.com initiative!
Online, companies can post problems they are facing due to the COVID 19 pandemic. These concerns, for example, ensuring stable supply chains or workforce planning.
Start-ups, on the other hand, can offer their solutions — either matching the posted challenges or independently as general suggestions. A task force consisting of four permanent employees and numerous helpers examines requests and solutions and links start-ups and companies together.
After only a few days, the platform has already achieved initial success. For example, the Indian start-up Leena AI (Bot) is now working together with the building materials manufacturer LaFargeHolcim.
With this in mind: Let’s continue to stick together!
