The German Ice Hockey Federation e.V. (German: Deutscher Eishockey Bund DEB) uses the KINEXON technology for ice hockey in Füssen at the Bundesleistungszentrum (BLZ).
The permanent installation with connection to the game clock and Firstbeat interface took place in the arena of the BLZ. There is also a mobile solution for the training hall.
In the future, the tracking system will offer the possibility of continuous long-term analysis during training and competition as well as direct monitoring of player performance — e.g. running distance, acceleration, time on ice, stress during body checks and much more. A further advantage is the integration of the Firstbeat data: the combination of internal and external load data allows a complete performance analysis of the athletes.
The system is intended for use by all DEB national teams (men’s and women’s national teams, U20, U18, U16) and for screening measures.
The first official tournament to use KINEXON data tracking was the 2019 IIHF U20 Ice Hockey World Championship Division I, Group A, which took place in Füssen from 09 to 15 December 2018.
Michael Elmer, long-time ice hockey goalkeeper coach (e.g. for the THOMAS SABO Ice Tigers, Adler Mannheim and the German national team) and now project manager for ice hockey at KINEXON: “We are very pleased to have attracted the DEB as a customer. Especially as a former player and coach I see the clear advantages of the system. The precise and reliable data and the intuitive operation of the app open up completely new ways in the areas of training control and intervention. Exact statements about game and training load help to challenge and support the players in the best possible way and to avoid injuries”.
Karl Schwarzenbrunner, National Coach Education & Science: “With the help of permanent measurements in training and matches, KINEXON gives us a more precise insight into the physiology of the athletes. This data enables us to make adjustments for test protocols, everyday training and games. These findings then are of benefit to the coaches in training and further education and thus also to all clubs”.
