Find out here how KINEXON helps to take BMW’s intralogistics processes to a new level. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) usually operate on fixed lane guidance, move freely on the area at BMW and take over fully automated intralogistics tasks. The Smart Transport Robot is born — with real-time localization and control from KINEXON.

With its brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorbike, the BMW Group is the world’s leading premium manufacturer of cars and motorbikes and a provider of premium financial and mobility services. The BMW Group production network comprises of 31 production and assembly sites in 15 countries. The company has a global sales network with representatives in over 140 countries.
Greater flexibility, scalability and transparency: These are the standards that BMW defines for its plants. However, the material was transported using automated guided vehicles (AGVs) on rigid induction loops on the floor. Their navigation should also be autonomous and smart.
From AGV to Smart Transport Robot (STR) — the transformation was made possible by KINEXON Brain. The intelligent vehicle control connects different sensor data, navigates the STR autonomously – even around obstacles – and ensures that loads are picked up autonomously.
More efficiency and higher quality with reduced operating costs: BMW achieved this project success together with KINEXON. Because with KINEXON Brain, the navigation of the AGVs is not only flexible and inexpensive, but at the same time more precise and robust. The “Logistics Award 2019” confirms this.
Digital transformation on the advance: The Logistics Award 2019 of the Federal Association (BVL) went to the BMW Group. The automobile manufacturer was honored for its “Logistics Next” transport and intralogistics project — to which KINEXON made a decisive contribution.
